The MB&F Horological Machine 3

In 2009, MB&F first launched their new creation. Part of their horological machine (HM) line of watches, the HM3 took its inspiration from spaceships of Max Bussers childhood. The watch has a very distinct shape to it with two cones acting as the command centers and a battle-axe rotor on the dial of the watch. One cone has the hours and day/night indicator and the other has the minutes. The watch also has a date around the movement. This project was worked on with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht and Eric Giroud who were the friends that had this beautiful watch come to life.

The watch has the rotor and regulating system on the dial side of the watch which is not a very easy thing to do, mechanically speaking. In order to combat this, the watch has two ceramic bearings on the underside of the watch that remind one of two thruster engines. There are two versions, the Starcruiser (cones in line with arm) and the Sidewinder (cones perpendicular to arm).

This watch was really a jumping off point - it gave birth to many other machines created by HM3 because of its appeal to many supports of independent watch making and watch enthusiasts.

Enjoy!
