The Perfect Three Piece Watch Collection Under $5000
If you are just getting into the watch collecting hobby, you probably want to get some ideas on how to amass a collection that you would enjoy. Before getting into this topic, I would recommend that you slow down - this hobby is really about the journey and not so much the end. Enjoy exploring the different watches out there and find pieces that really speak to you.
Back to the topic at hand, putting together a collection for under $5000 is quite a task. There are many options that you can choose from so there are some assumptions that were made for this collection to come together.
First, this is my personal taste and for someone just entering into the hobby on watch collecting. Also, the pricing of these watches are based on the market I am in and can differ based on location and time.
The first watch is a universally respected watch and that is the Seiko SKX007. Its the perfect everyday watch and a watch that will get the job done. We would price this watch at about $250.
The second watch is the Tudor Black Bay. There is a huge trend for stainless steel sports watches and this Tudor definitely is a good example of a well made watch in this category. It’s good looking, there is an in-house movement version which ticks the box for horology purists and can be had for approximately $2500 on the secondhand market.
The last watch is, with about $2000 left (leaving room for flexibility in the prices), is a Vintage Omega Seamaster with box and papers. This should be no ordinary Seamaster - I recommend going to an auction and partaking in the auction. It will immerse you in a watch collecting environment and you can meet like-minded people. Further, it is a beautiful story of how you got into watch collecting as well as a fabulous watch.
Enjoy!
