A Watch Auction In Aid for the Australian Bushfires - Watch & Act!
An online charity auction has been organized by Time and Tide, the Australian watch blog, to provide aid for the bushfire crisis that is taking place in the south east of Australia. 100 percent of the proceeds from the sales of the watches will be donated to assist in fighting the fires that are running rampant.
To give you some perspective of the effects of the bushfires, let us go over some statistics.
As of January 14, 2020, 18.6 million hectares of bush has been burnt.
5900 buildings have been destroyed.
At least 34 humans have died.
480 million animals have been killed.
1/3 of all koalas in new south wales have been killed and a third of their habitat is gone.
The air quality rating is 11 times worse than the ‘hazardous' rating.
To say this is a crisis is definitely an understatement. The founder of Time and Tide, Andrew Mcutchen organized what watches will be auctioned off online. Of the 16, there are 2 unique pieces and 9 limited editions. The watches that will be auctioned are:
