6 Months of Wearing the Rolex Explorer II 16570
After 6 months of consistently wearing a watch, it is becomes time to take stock of how your experience has been. One should size up how the watch has been on the wrist, both the good and the bad. It gives one an opportunity to figure out if you like the experiences with the watch and it can dictate where you go next on your watch journey. After wearing the Rolex Explorer II 16570 for around half a year, it was time to go over how the experience has been.
The Explorer II is definitely a Rolex sports watch. On the bracelet the watch feel sturdy, and has wrist presence. If you typically wear 34-36mm vintage watches, the 40mm Explorer II can maybe feel a bit heavy and large. But regardless, the case and bracelet design makes the watch extremely comfortable to wear. The clasp is easy to use, and makes it a very effortless watch to put on and take off.
The Explorer II we are looking at is an F serial, so it has drilled lug holes. This means it is one of the easiest watches to get bracelets or straps on and off. It is a pleasure to wear this watch on a leather strap, as we did in the video below. But, this watch goes great on the Rolex bracelet, on a NATO strap, or even a rubber strap of which we are huge fans of. It becomes a watch that one can mix and match and play around with different looks very easily.
The complications on this watch, the GMT hand and date at 3 o’clock are some of the most useful out there. If one needs a second time zone, whether for travel or for relatives in a different city that oneself, the red GMT hand is a must-have. The date is an obvious complication that provides a ton of utility. It is unfortunate that the date is not a quickset date, and it can be frustrating to have to move the hours forward in order to advance the time. It is also something one has to get used to, as most watches don’t have a setting for the crown to advance the hours. It would also be super cool if one could move the steel bezel of this watch, but maybe that should be reserved for other Rolex sports models.
The Explorer II is undoubtable a watch everyone should experience. The black dial on this 16570 keeps the watch a bit more under the radar of passers-by, something that the white dial version lacks as more people notice the brighter dial. Its a fun watch to enjoy with different straps and pleasure on the wrist.
Enjoy!
