A Green Reverso and the Most Complicated Reverso Ever, Jaeger LeCoultre Watches and Wonders 2021

This year, Jaeger LeCoultre not only focused on watches for the mainstream market, they also released a highly complicated watch as part of their Hybris Mechanica collection. They also found a way to incorporate colour, namely green like many other watch brands have, into their iconic watches. They utilized their staple watch design, the Reverso, to create some very interesting watches.

With the major trend for green dialed watches, JLC released a Reverso Tribute with a green sunburst like dial. The watch itself utilizes the Tribute proportions, which has been hailed as a phenomenal move by JLC in recent years. It utilizes the proportions of the original Reverso which everyone loves but modernizes the watch. The green dial definitely gives this watch an extra ‘pop’ and provides another angle for consumers to enjoy in the regular Reverso collection. The watch comes on a dark green leather strap. The watch is running on the JLC caliber 822/2 and features a sub-seconds dial at 6 o’clock. It is nice to see more colours being used, and definitely will attract collectors who are looking for that pop of colour.

The second watch the manufacture released was the Hybris Mechanica Calibre 185 Quadriptyque. This watch is seriously complicated, and is the most complicated Reverso ever produced to date. The watch has complications on both dial sides of the watch, and then also has complications on both sides of the case cradle. The first dial has a perpetual calendar, with big date and day, month, year, and leap year, day/night indicators. It also displays an incredibly manufactured tourbillon at 7 o’clock. The second dial has a jumping hours complication and one can see parts of the minute repeater that can chime on demand with a push of a button on the side of the case. Moving to the cradle of the Reverso, the watch has the Synodic cycle, Draconic cycle, and Anomalistic cycle for the lunar month indicators. Then, on the back-side of the watch case is a moonphase complication.

Without doubt this watch has some serious complications. As with all JLC watches, the case and movement are finished to the highest quality. There are only 10 pieces that were produced that mark a very historic watch from the manufacture.

Enjoy!
