Hodinkee Acquires Crown & Caliber! Watch Industry M&A

Well, if you wanted some big news to hit the watch industry, Hodinkee has officially acquired Crown & Caliber. Crown & Caliber is one of the leading pre-owned retailers in the US. Over the last few years, Hodinkee has really diversified its capabilities and offerings in the watch world. Within the last year, they released their own watch insurance, they specialize in journalism, both printed and video. They also have a store with watch accessories, vintage watches and new watches that they are official retailers of. They recently raised a ton of private equity money and this is probably the big move that was enabled by the funding.

These are two giants in the watch world, no doubt. It will be interesting to see the effects of this acquisition of the overall makeup of the watch world. Whether this will change prices, watch offerings or even contract the watch industry is all to be seen.
