Reacting to 2499 That Is The Definition Of A Perfectly Preserved Vintage Patek Philippe
With Philips’ Geneva Watch Action XIII coming up on May 8th, we decided to take a look at one of the videos they released about a very special Patek Philippe reference 2499. This 2499 is a third series and is arguably one of the best condition 2499 to come to auction in some time. Aurel Bacs talks through where this watch fits into the line up of the four generations of this reference. He also discusses the significance of this specific watch when it comes to its impeccable condition.
Lot number 100, we have a very important 2499. The watch was manufactured in 1964 and sold in 1965. There were four generations of this reference, and this one was part of the third series. Noticeably, it does not have a tachymeter scale around the outside of the dial like the two series of 2499 that pre-dated this one. It was manufactured during the first few years, which makes it an early version of this watch. It is an engraved and enamel dial, which gives the watch dial a very different texture than other perpetual calendar chronographs of the era. What really makes this watch stand out is the incredible condition. The finishing to the sides of the case and lugs are still visible. It really is a ‘like-new’ conditioned watch with all its wonders still in tact. In the release video, you can clearly see the incredible brushed finish to the side of the lug that really makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up, or at least to some. The hallmark on the back side of one of the lugs is so crisp, it will definitely be a draw for many collectors.
Enjoy!
