The Best Release So Far, Geneva Watch Days 2021 - Oris
Oris has had a stand-out performance at Geneva Watch Days this year. Not only are they continuing their mission to create a world that is more environmentally friendly, they are doing so in an extremely attractive way to the watch consumer.
Oris released the Oris Aquis Upcycle, a watch that has a dial made out of PET plastics. When you first see this watch, you immediately thing it is going to be a limited edition. But no, this watch is not a limited edition. Obviously what catches ones eye is the incredibly playful dial with all its colours and patterns. Because it is made of upcycled plastics, no two dials will be unique which makes it so much more collectable. The watch is the standard Oris Aquis with a date at 6 o’clock, running on the Oris 733 (Sellita SW200-1) and comes in the standard 41mm and 36mm case sizes.
This is a huge step forward to try make recycled watches much more mainstream. It has a great message to the average consumer and allows for a collector to find a watch that is truly unique. If anyone asks about wanting a dive watch, this is the watch I am going to suggest - playful and just so cool to have on the wrist.
Oris also released a Big Crown ProPilot limited edition watch to pay tribute to Rega, a non-profit Swiss air rescue organization. The watch has a black and red motif to it, in line with the colour tones of the organization. Oris added a GMT hand that has a red pointer on it because the individuals at Rega said they like having a GMT complication on their watches while operating their aircrafts.
The watch is limited to 2100 pieces; 100 pieces for each aircraft in their fleet. The case-back of the watch is engraved with each of the aircrafts, adding to the collectability of these watches.
Well done, Oris.
Enjoy!
