The New Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra for Tokyo Olympics 2020

After a tough year and a half, 2021 is holding host to a huge amount of sports. We just finished the Euro 2020 competition which was an exciting couple of weeks which really felt like we were back to normal in the world. Now, we look forward to the next big event, the Tokyo Olympics. Of course, and Olympic Games would not be complete without a commemorative watch, and Omega has delivered.

Omega has released a 18k yellow gold Seamaster Aqua Terra to mark this great event. The watch comes in two version, a 38mm and 41mm Aqua Terra. The watch features a blue, almost checkered pattern dial, which looks very similar to the Japan Olympics logo. It has gold applied hour markers which stand out distinctly. As with most watches of these two colours, the gold and blue play so beautifully together, especially with the blue leather strap the watch comes on. The blue brings out the warmth of the gold case and makes the hour markers shine really nicely.

The two watches are running on two Omega Co-axial automatic movements; the 38mm is powered by the caliber 8801 and the 41mm runs on the caliber 8901. Both these movements have hours, minutes, seconds and a date at 6 o’clock. When you turn the watch over, you have a display case back that has the Tokyo Olympic logo printed on the glass. It is also nice to be able to see the well-finished movements and the bronze-coloured rotor.

This is not a limited edition piece, which is not typically for commemorate pieces like this. Theoretically, this is part of the Omega Aqua Terra lineup, but these will probably not sell for an extended period of time. Whether you want to mark the occasion to return to normality, or want to mark your participation in the games, no matter how small, this is a great piece to do it with.

Enjoy!
