The Royal Family and the Watches They Wore at the Accession

The Royal Family and the Watches They Wore at the Accession

I would like to express my deepest condolences to the Royal Family for the passing of Queen Elizabeth II. She was a great example and inspiration to many and her legacy will reign far into the future. She had the ability to inspire and lead a great number of people, and without her we would not have paid tribute to the past, remained diligent in the present, and thought of what the future will hold.

During the Accession, as a watch enthusiast, I of course looked at the wrists of the participants (shoutout to Horologymania on Instagram for the inspiration). King Charles III, Camilla the Queen Consort, and William, Prince of Wales participated and they each had a watch on their wrist.

King Charles III, who will take over from Queen Elizabeth II was seen wearing a chronograph that has been pictured on his wrist before. The watch is a Parimigiani Fleurier Toric Chronograph in an 18-carat gold case. Parimigiani Fleurier is maybe not a watch company you are familiar with, but it was founded in 1996 and is located in Fleurier, Switzerland in the canton of Neuchâtel. The watch features a beautiful white dial with roman numeral hour markers, blued hands and a date that is nicely nesiled between 1 and 2 o’clock. It also features a display caseback that allows one to see the 400Z movement with a gold rotor. It is believed King Charles III got the watch from the brands retailer in Klosters, where the Royal Family has spent holidays in the winter, but who knows!

Camilla, the Queen consort was also spotted wearing a watch. On her wrist is believed to be a Cartier Tank. It did not seem like it was anything out of the ordinary but what a fabulous watch to wear. Simple and classic, it is hard to tell if it is a mechanical or quartz version. The watch seems to be gold, with a black strap which blends in nicely to the Accession and is not too over the top as to distract from the occasion.

Finally, Prince William’s watch is a watch we have seen quite a few times on his wrist. The watch is the Omega Seamaster 300M Professional. The watch appears to be quartz version with a blue dial and really does remind one of James Bond. The Seamaster is a great steal sports watch that many collectors herald as one of the best everyday watches. It certainly looked good on his wrist.

Once again, my condolences to all those affected by the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and long live the King.

Enjoy!
