Vintage Longines 5-Star Admiral Automatic - Best Looking and Great Value Watch

It is no secret that we at Life on the Wrist believe Longines is some of the best value in vintage watches. The variety is truly vast and the prices of these watches are very competitive in todays market.

It is often hard to find a watch that really captures your attention after being around watches for so long. Sometimes the watches just feel the same. But then when you see a watch that just feels like it has that “thing”, it is hard to get it off of your wrist. This Longines Admiral was manufactured in the 1970’s and has definitely got that “thing”!

The watch itself is a 10 karat gold filed case and has a cushion form to it making it sit really nicely on ones wrist. It is the 5-star Admiral model and features the day and date complications. One of the things that really stands out on this watch is the applied hour markers and extremely clean white, creamy sunburst dial. The hours and minutes hands are also unique with horizontal ridges gliding through the metal. The beautiful curved “automatic” signature is also something that stands out about this watch. It has beautiful loops that make the dial feel romantic in some way.

The beating heart of this watch is the Longines caliber 508 that has a very unique date complication. The day of the week is changed by turning the crown forwards in time, and the date is actually a quick-set date complication. Unlike other movements, the wearer only has to press the crown down to change the date. Interestingly this is a pretty unique way of adjusting the date and makes this watch just that bit more special.

The watch comes on a brown leather strap and is available on our store here.

Enjoy!
