3 Rules to Follow When Collecting Watches
When you are buying watches for your collection, you need to follow 3 simply rules to get the most enjoyment out of the hobby. The three rules are:
1. Buy what you love - Being that buying a watch is a luxury, you want to look at your wrist and be happy that you purchased the watch. Don't follow the fads that the watch community goes through. You like the 70's era watches even though they are not the hottest time period for watches? Who cares! Buy it if you love it!
2. Buy what you know - Before diving into your purchase, you need to do as much research as you possibly can on the watch you want to buy. Know about the manufacturer, the complication, the variations in the watch... know everything you possibly can about the watch you want to buy!
3. Buy condition - Condition is subjective. We all have varying opinions on what level of patina you want your watch to have. There are some beautiful watches that have water-damaged dials. Some people think its cool, others do not. Regardless, you will know what condition of watch you like to look at. Go for that!
