This Restored Rolex Auctioned for $1 Million!

This Restored Rolex Auctioned for $1 Million!

Auction season is in full swing, and a very interesting Rolex 6062 “Pink Stelline” just went for just under $1 million. That is not the whole story though.

It was sold in 2015 to a collector and the lume plots on the dial had been poorly relummed. They were not to the original size of what the 6062 had when it was produced, so the lume dots looked oversize and really threw off the dial. In 2015, the winning bid was around $300,000, which was significantly lower than other 6062’s. The owner decided he wanted to redo the lume dots and had them professional done with period correct radium. In the owners attempt to return the watch to what it looked like when it was released, the watch was officially stamped with being ‘restored’.

Now, the watch sold for just under $1 million, and this result may have changed the watch worlds opinions on what ‘restored’ really means. It is an interesting discussion and we go into further details in the video.

Enjoy!
