The Greubel Forsey QP À Équation with a New Touch of Colour

Greubel Forsey has released their QP À Équation watch with a new and highly desired chocolate-brown dial. Greubel Forsey was founded in 2004 by Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey. The company is based in La Chaux-de-Fonds in the canton of Neuchâtel in Switzerland. They are known for extremely high end watchmaking and the majority of their watches are based on a tourbillon escapement.

The QP À Équation was released in 2015 at SIHH. The watch is a 44mm red gold cased watch with a chocolate brown dial and applied Arabic numerals. The case itself has polished edges and lugs with brushed parts of the case along the sides. The watches inspiration was to give the wearer a complete idea of the time. With that in mind, the watch features the following complications: hours, minutes, seconds, a 24 hours tourbillon, a 24 hour indicator, power reserve indicator, perpetual calendar, mode selector display, equation of time located on the back of the watch and the year also located on the back of the watch. The watch is an incredible feat with so much complication in a manual wind movement boasting a 72 hour power reserve.

Currently, many collectors and enthusiasts have criticized watch companies for developing watches with an overwhelming amount of complications. This could be said about the Greubel Forsey, but to me, the complications are directed at accomplishing the main goal and inspiration behind the watch. The chocolate brown dial is definitely desired by collectors and who doesn’t live the Greubel Forsey tourbillon at 10 o’clock. There are small red accents that also are a subtle touch that completes the watch.
