Why settle for a watch with a boring dial? Vintage watches are great for a number of reasons - creative dials being one of them. Today we look at four pieces, with interesting dials from brands you likely love as much as us.

Bulova 23 Jewel Date Yellow Gold

This Bulova was manufactured in 1968. The watch has a 10k gold filled case, in good condition. The spider-like lugs angle towards the wrist making the watch sit true to size. The watch has a signed Bulova crown. The sunburst dial is in attractive condition with applied hour markers and Bulova logo. The watch has it’s date complication at 3 o’clock with a gold applied window. It also has gold sword hands. The watch runs on the automatic caliber 10CPACD movement.

Enicar Ultrasonic Guilloche Dial

This Enicar was manufactured in 1967. The watch has gold plated, dur aluminum case that has signs of wear, but is in overall good condition. The 35mm case sits large and flat on the wrist, with moderate size lugs. The dial has an incredible sunburst, guilloche finish, applied hour markers, and subsidiary seconds at 6 o’clock that is recessed into the dial. The watch runs on the manual wind caliber AR 1292 movement.

Longines reference 400 "President Roosevelt" Guilloche Dial

This Longines was manufactured in 1955. The watch has a gold filled case manufactured by Ross, and is in overall good condition with signs of wear. The case is long and sits large on the wrist. The case has a very unique design, with hinged lugs that are flexible and allow for the watch to wear comfortable with any wrist movement. The dial of the watch has a beautiful square guilloche finishing, with applied hour markers and Longines logo. It also has a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock. The caseback of the watch has a hand-engraved dedication: “John T Broderick 12-21-62 A.R.S Employees”. The inscription likely points to the sale and gifting of the watch to a John Broderick in 1962. The crown is unsigned. The watch runs on the caliber 9LT manual wind movement.

Longines reference 5028 Diamond Dial

This Longines was manufactured in 1973. The watch has a 10k gold filled case, stamped by “D&A”, indicating it was produced by DiVincenzo & Arienti, a Brooklyn-based case maker who manufactured cases for Longines, Omega, and Hamilton and is in good overall condition. The lugs are thin, short, and angle towards the wrist. The watch has a two tone, black and gold dial with applied hour markers and diamond indices at 12, 3, 6, and 9. The caseback of the watch has a hand-engraved dedication: “To Pat Love Rose 12-25-72”. The inscription likely points to the sale and gifting of the watch during Christmas, 1972. The crown is unsigned. The watch runs on the caliber 528 manual wind movement.
