Tag Heuer Aquaracer and Porsche Carrera Chronograph, Watches and Wonders 2021

Tag Heuer released new watches this year at watches and wonders and really created some very interesting pieces with a splash of colour. These watches pull on some of their heritage in creating phenomenal dive watches but give them enough flair warrant the modern collectors eye.

Tag Heuer released a group of Aquaracer Professional 300 that really stamped a new era of Aquaracer for the brand. The release included a new design and svelte case and bracelet design that made them extremely wearable. There were 4 version of this watch in 43mm stainless steel cases, featuring a cyclopes date function at 6 o’clock. The 43mm versions come in different colour combinations; blue dial and blue bezel, silver dial and black bezel, black dial and black bezel, and they joined other watch companies with a green dial and green bezel which is in a titanium case. Watches with green motif’s have been extremely popular this year, and Tag Heuer executed very well on it. The watches dials have a wave-like pattern to it. Tag Heuer also released 36mm versions of the new Aquaracers with a blue dial, blue bezel and diamond hour markers; black dial and black bezel, and silver dial and silver bezel.

Along with these 7 watches, Tag Heuer released a limited edition Aquaracer paying tribute to the reference 844 they produced in the 1970’s. This Aquaracer has a black dial and black bezel, small red accented hour text and faux patina hour markers. The watch definitely does the reference 844 aesthetic justice, but moved the date function from 3 o’clock to 6 o’clock. These Aquaracers are running on the Heuer caliber 5, a modified ETA 2824-2. Tag Heuer also released a Tag Heuer Carrera Porsche Chronograph, continuing their relationship with Porsche. The watch itself is fairly similar to the the base Carrera’s, but features an asphalt textured grey dial and red accents with the Porsche name on the bezel of the watch. Running on the Heuer 02 automatic movement, the 44mm steel cased watch is fairly good value from an in-house chronographs. Many hope that a smaller version of the watch will be released - we will see!
