Is Baselworld Watch Show Dying?

There has been a lot of talk the past few years regarding the state of the watch industry. Many people were seeing a decline in attendance and quality at the trade shows. Baselworld, one of two major watch and jewelry trade shows (the other being SIHH) has seen this decline first hand. Last year, the Swatch Group decided they would not be attending Baselworld 2019. This drastically reduced the amount of companies attending from around 1500 brands to around 500. Namely, companies like Omega and Harry Winston would not be in attendance. They have not yet announced if they would be skipping Baselworld 2020. Is this the end of Baselworld? We discuss our opinions and the potential for opportunity that Baselworld presents to many brands.
