Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chanel and Chopard Are All Leaving Baselworld

Rolex, Patek Philippe, Tudor, Chanel and Chopard have all announced that they will be leaving Baselworld and starting their own show in Geneva. Leading up to these announcements, Rolex, Tudor and Patek Philippe all announced that they will be postponing releases for 2020. Also, Rolex executive Hubert Du Plessix asked Baselworld to refund their fees for the 2020 show being that is was not taking place.

The new show is be marketed towards retailers, the press and VIP customers. Rolex has been participating in Baselworld since 1939 and sited their disagreement with the decisions made by MCH Group. Similarly, Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern feels that the vision of his company and Baselworld were no longer aligned.

It is a big change for the world of watches. The newly formed show these companies are creating will coincide with SIHH, so that time of the year will be full of watches!
