The MB&F Horological Machine 5

The MB&F Horological Machine 5 (HM5), nicknamed “On the Road Again” is another incredibly unique watch created and produced by Max Busser and the watchmakers he collaborated with to bring his vision to life. The watch takes its inspiration of 1970’s car design like the Lamborghini Miura and digital watches that Max discovered at the young age of 10.

The case of the watch looks very much like the back of a 70’s sports car, even featuring louvers that can be opened and closed to charge the superluminova on the dial of the watch. The cases were made in Zirconium, red gold and CarbonMarcolon and measure 51.5x49x22.5mm - a large watch that has huge presence on the wrist like most MB&F creations.

The movement is a GP/Sowind based gear train that was modified by Jean Francois Mojon and Vincent Bourard to create a bidirectional jumping hours function. There are two disks on top of the movement and a prism that reflects the time up horizontally like the dashboard of a car. Time is therefore read horizontally through the watch as opposed to looking down at it. As always the famous battle axe rotor can be found on the underside of the watch.
