Watches and Diamonds

Watches and Diamonds

A widely debated topic is whether or not watches should have diamonds. A more opinionated topic is how many diamonds should a watch have on it. As the previous sentences alluded to, this topic is opinion based, and so too is this video. Please know this is my opinion, and should not be taken as gospel when it comes to this topic.

There are many times where one sees watches that have a huge amount of diamonds on the dial, bezel, case and bracelet of a watch. These types of watches can be seen countless times on Instagram. I personally do not like this combination of diamonds and watches and prefer a more elegant, understated use of diamonds like when round diamonds are used for the hour markers of the watch.

I believe my preference is due to the fact that I am more interested in the watchmaking behind the watch and do not want to the diamonds to be the center of attention for the timepiece. For those who prefer more diamonds, I believe it is because they are looking for a piece of jewelry and not very focused on the watchmaking itself. Each to their own, but I would prefer a Rolex Datejust with a very simple diamond dial. Its practical, understated and can give the watch just enough extra pop to it!

Enjoy!
